Organics Waste Presentation at CRRA

Action Research presented at the 2022 California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) Conference! The California Resource Recovery Association, founded in 1974, is California’s statewide recycling association and one of the oldest and largest non-profit recycling organizations in the country. Their membership is composed of cities, counties, municipal districts, businesses, hauling companies, material processors, non-profit organizations, state agencies, and allied professionals aimed at achieving environmental sustainability through zero waste strategies.

In our presentation at CRRA, we discussed our successful food scraps diversion work with Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA). In January 2022, SB 1383 was enacted which requires residents and businesses to dispose of food scraps properly in their green waste bins. We were tasked with assisting residents to adopt new organics recycling behaviors to help SVSWA and local jurisdictions comply with the new law. We were excited to share how our pilot program was successful in engaging residents in new food scraps disposal behaviors.

We greatly enjoyed meeting fellow conference attendees, answering questions, and learning about other exciting projects at the event. Our team can’t wait to present at our next conference, CASQA, in October!

The Action Research team takes great pride in protecting local ecosystems, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and helping our clients make a positive impact in their communities.
